Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor has made a special place in the hearts of people with her film choices. She has done films like ‘Dhadak’, ‘Bawal’ and ‘Gunjan Saxena’, but still many people compare her with her mother Sridevi. At first she used to take this as baggage, but later she started feeling motivated about this. However, Jhanvi says that being Sridevi’s daughter is not easy. He has always faced pressure regarding this matter but he has learned a lot from his mother. In Agenda Aaj Tak in 2023, Janhvi Kapoor talked about her personal life and the pressure she faces due to comparisons with her mother Sridevi.
In Jhanvi’s words, “When my first film ‘Dhadak’ was released, I was compared a lot to my mother. People said many things about me, due to which I took pressure. But then gradually I realized that if I started taking these things as motivation, then maybe I would feel a little light. I started to understand that I am being compared with Mama, Sridevi, so maybe she is the standard. And this thing started motivating me somewhere.
I remember very well that Momma had told me that my first performance or my first film would not be compared to her first film or performance. Will be from his last film. She had said that I do not want this pressure even for my enemy. And at that time I did not understand this and did not think that such a big baggage would come to me. Whenever I made my debut, I started realizing that yes, Momma was right. This is real. But like I said, this started motivating me.
Being Sridevi’s daughter was not easy. There was pressure. But he is the one who taught us things. I was brought up on film sets. Whenever I used to spend time with my parents, watch movies or go for papa’s shoots, or our bed time stories were a part of mumma’s shoots. So I was so crazy about films that I prepared for my History exam by watching films and documentaries. So I have been obsessed with films.”
In professional life, Jhanvi is achieving one milestone after another. He was also honored with the Filmfare OTT Awards for the film Bawaal, released in 2023. Earlier in 2022, she was also given the Super Stylish Youth Idol – Female award by PinkVilla.
